Education: Other trades certificate or diploma. Work setting: Manufacturing or production. Fabrication. Drilling. Tasks: Compute dimensions and tolerances of machine parts. Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, charts and tables. Fit and assemble components and machine parts to close tolerance. Document and report deviations from specifications and tolerances. Verify dimensions of parts machined using precise measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers). Verify dimensions of products for accuracy and conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments. Troubleshoot and resolve technical problems. Ensure that the quality of products meets established standards. Ensure health and safety regulations are followed. Clean and maintain work space. Enter codes specifying speed, feed and cut of the toolpath for computer numerically controlled (CNC) machine tools. Type of operation: Grinding. Instrument experience: Precision measuring instrument.
