Job details
Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. Work setting: On-site customer service. Barbershop or hairstyling salon/studio. Tasks: Analyze hair and scalp condition. Book appointments. Cut and trim hair according to client's instructions or preferences. Provide custom hair and scalp treatment. Shampoo customers' hair. Shave and trim beards and mustaches. Provide other hair treatment, such as waving, straightening and tinting and also provide scalp conditioning massages. Apply bleach, tints, dyes or rinses to colour, frost or streak hair. Apply hair extensions. Cut, trim, taper, curl, wave, perm and style hair. Suggest hair style compatible with client's physical features and preferences. Perform receptionist duties. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Hairstylist Trade Certification. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Repetitive tasks. Manual dexterity. Attention to detail. Personal suitability: Client focus. Efficient interpersonal skills. Judgement. Experience: Experience an asset. Support for mature workers: Participates in a government or community program or initiative that supports mature workers . Applies hiring policies that discourage age discrimination . Provides staff with awareness training to create a welcoming work environment for mature workers . Offers mentorship, coaching and/or networking opportunities for mature workers . Offers phased retirement options that allow mature workers to gradually reduce their workload (for example: flexible or reduced work hours, part time employment, project-based or seasonal work, etc.) . Offers phased re-entry options for mature workers who are returning to work after retiring (for example: gradually increasing hours and responsibilities) .
