Job details
Education: Other trades certificate or diploma. or equivalent experience. Tasks: Compute dimensions and tolerances of machine parts. Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, charts and tables. Repair machine tools and parts. Set up and adjust production machineries/tools. Verify dimensions of parts machined using precise measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers). Set up and operate conventional and computer controlled machine tools. Verify dimensions of products for accuracy and conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments. Read and interpret specifications or follow verbal instructions. Clean and lubricate machinery and equipment. Lay out, set up and operate one or more light or heavy metalworking machines. Document work completed. Cut, bend, roll, ream, punch, drill, weld or otherwise shape and form metal stock into parts or products. Supervision: Machinists and machining and tooling inspectors. Personal suitability: Accurate.
