Responsibilities

Tasks

  • Prepare bids
  • Estimate costs and materials
  • Read blueprints and electrical schematics
  • Requisition or order materials, equipment and supplies
  • Establish methods to meet work schedules and co-ordinate work activities with other work units
  • Troubleshoot and isolate faults
  • Test and measure voltage, loads, ground faults integrity of circuits
  • Supervise other workers
  • Splice, join and connect wires
  • Renovate electrical systems in residential and commercial structures
  • Read and interpret blueprints, maps, drawings and specifications
  • Project management
  • Keep maintenance reports and documentation
  • Instruct apprentices
  • Install power generation, stand-by power generation and power conditioning systems
  • Install surface mount and/or overhead cables
  • Install underground wiring and cables
  • Design and construct single-phase service for single or multimeter installations
  • Professionalism in customer service
  • Connect power to audio and visual equipment
  • Ground and bond electrical equipment, systems and structures including swimming pools and hot tubs
  • Commission systems and components
  • Replace and repair electrical controls and panel boxes
