Responsibilities

Tasks

  • Enforce government acts and regulations
  • Ensure health and safety regulations are followed
  • Inspect processing methods
  • Inspect products to detect harmful diseases, chemical residues, or infestations
  • Maintain inspection records and complete inspection reports
  • Prepare reports
  • Examine storage, handling and transportation equipment to ensure that sanitary procedures are followed
  • Inspect the cleanliness and practices of establishment employees
  • Investigate consumer and trade complaints
  • Determine the size of food portions and costs
