We are currently hiring for a Controller or Manager to join our small boutique accounting firm. We provide Controller for hire and bookkeeping services to our clients, and are looking for someone who wants cares about thier clients, is personable and who has a desire to help. This position can be remote, however sometimes our clients are looking for people to attend meetings in person. Preference will be given to someone based in Nova Scotia.The Role:· Main point on contact for the clients· Attend virtual meetings and possibly in person· Prepare the month end files for multiple organisations· Review the work of bookkeepers for accuracy and completeness· Assist with accounting system migrations· Create custom reports for clients to understand financial data better· Assist with ad hoc requests as required· Run and/or review and approve payroll· Assist with related compliance and tax filings· Prepare budgets· Analyze data and compare actuals to budget· Help to onboard and train staff· Assist in onboarding new clientsAs we are a small firm this role will also be responsible to perform some bookkeeping as we grow.We use Financial Cents, QBO, XERO, DEXT, HUBDOC, PLOOTO, and various other systems as needed by our clients.About you:· You have 5+ years' experience working in an accounting/finance role· You have completed or are working towards an accounting designation (preferred)· You have experience working with various accounting systems· You have payroll experience· You have a strong work ethic and ability to meet tight timelines· You have a love of numbers and what drives those numbers and are detail-oriented· You are a self-starter that can plan, prioritize, and work independently, with a high degree of integrity and confidentiality· You have strong communication skills· You are capable of identifying issues and generating solutions· You are techn savvy· You can juggle tasks to meet deadlinesPermanent Full-time 37.5 hours per week, work hours are flexible.If you are looking for a change and to gain some work life balance please feel free to apply.
