The Food Services division of our Parks, Recreation and Culture Department is looking for Food Service Attendants to work in an auxiliary capacity in various locations throughout Burnaby. Shadbolt Centre for the Arts, Burnaby Village Museum, Edmonds Café, Bill Copeland Sports Centre and Swangard Stadium are just a few of the locations. The work involves varied concession and catering related duties, including operating Point of Sale cash registers; preparing float and bank deposits, preparing food, serving alcohol, daily cleaning of food prep areas and preparing specialty coffee drinks. This position involves constant contact with the general public, catering clients, City staff and community groups in high volume cash handling environments. Ideal candidates will have work experience in food services, possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, to be able to work independently and as part of a staff team. This position will require the ability to work evening and weekend shifts. Performs other related work as required. Qualifications include up to high school graduation plus some related experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Considerable knowledge of use of equipment related to the work. Sound knowledge of health regulations and laws related to the work. Ability to perform simple clerical duties such as taking inventory, receiving cash and balancing cash to sales. Catering experience is an asset along with Serving it Right and Food Safe Certificates.Hourly Wage: $21.59 + 12% in lieu of benefits Schedule: This is an auxiliary position, hours and shifts are dependent on operational requirements, and are scheduled by the department on an as needed basis. The incumbent must have the availability to work scheduled shifts in the mornings, afternoons, evenings, and weekends. Available hours are Monday through Sunday from 5:30 AM - 1:00 AM.
