MacLean Wiedemann Lawyers LLP is looking for a full-time Financial Administrator to join our law firm.
The Financial Administrator will be responsible for overseeing and maintaining accurate financial records of the firm and our two offices and ensuring compliance with the financial requirements of the Law Society of Alberta.
Candidates will need to have a strong understanding of accounting and bookkeeping principles, be detail oriented and have proficiency in accounting software.
The Financial Administrator will report to the firm?s partners and other lawyers.
*Responsibilities:*
*Financial*
* responsible for timely monthly and yearly firm financial reports and statements
* manages all day day bookkeeping and record management of all bank accounts (trust accounts and general accounts)
* responsible for the completion of monthly and yearly reconciliations
* responsible for regular Law Society financial report filing requirements
* oversees accounts receivables and accounts payable
* responsible for the firm?s payroll and benefit plan
* responsible for yearly firm budgeting
*Managerial*
* overall management of the firms? Medicine Hat and Brooks offices
* overseeing the firm?s day to day operations including:
* upkeep of office maintenance and arranging any necessary building improvements
* supply management and equipment procurement
* negotiating with third party vendors and lessors
* responsible for managing the office staff including recruiting, selecting, training, and monitoring of employees
* responsible for employee results by coaching, counselling and disciplining employees and planning monitoring and appraising job results with the assistance of the firm?s lawyers
* administration of payroll and employee benefits
* administration and scheduling of firm staff including vacation and personal days
* maintenance of technological systems
*Requirements:*
certificate or diploma or equivalent experience as a bookkeeper, financial administrator or related qualifications
knowledge of accounting principles and practices
strong proficiency with accounting software like QuickBooks, MS Excel and payroll software
ability to perform account analysis and bank reconciliations
knowledge of and experience with human resource management
attention to detail
ability to work with a team
