PlannerPosition OverviewThe District of Fort St. James is seeking a permanent full-time Planner. Reporting to the Corporate Officer the Planner is responsible for managing and facilitating a range of municipal planning functions, including land use planning, development approvals, community planning, and infrastructure planning. The role requires collaboration with Council, staff, developers, and the public to support sustainable development and align with the District?s Official Community Plan and strategic objectives.QualificationsApplicants must have a Diploma/Certificate from a post-secondary Planning program, with two years of related experience, or a combination of equivalent experience and education. Thorough knowledge of municipal land use planning principles, policies, and legislation. Ability to analyze complex planning and development proposals and provide clear recommendations. Strong written and verbal communication skills, including report writing and presentations to Council and the public. Proficiency with GIS software and other planning-related technologies. Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines efficiently.
