Northreach Society is a progressive, non-profit organization actively engaged in changing the conversation surrounding drug use, people who use drugs, homelessness, HIV and vulnerable populations. The Supervised Consumption Service Bus Driver is responsible for driving the bus from the SCS Shop to the parking lot at Wapiti House in the morning and helping to set it up for receiving clients and then driving it back to the SCS Shop in the evening. The driver is also responsible for taking the bus to the mechanics for repairs and maintenance. 1 hour shifts available, mornings and/or evenings. $45 per shift. Duties and responsibilities * In the morning, meet the SCS RPIC/ARPIC at Wapiti House parking lot (North side) and ride with them to the SCS Shop. * Obtain the bus keys. Check oil, fuel, windshield washer, engine coolant, power steering, and brake fluid levels. Fill as needed (refuel at ½ tank). * Check belts and hoses and perform walk-around inspection of bus as per the pre-departure check-list (tires, wheels and mud flaps), clean license plate and back camera. * Drive bus to Wapiti House, back into spot on the North side of Wapiti House. * Help to prepare bus for receiving clients; plug in, extend steps, put railing out, open hatch for needle disposal. * Scan QC code on windshield to bring up form to record mileage, etc. * In the evening, go to the bus in the parking lot of Wapiti House. * Prepare the bus for transport, unplug, retract steps, assist in securing items in the bus. * Perform the pre-departure evening checklist. * Drive the bus following the SCS RPIC/ARPIC to the SCS Shop. * While the SCS employee restocks supplies, empty the garbage, mop the floor of the bus, extend steps and leave overnight to dry. Check water under the sink, dump the dirty water and refill the clean jug as needed. * Perform walk-around inspection of bus and complete form on phone. * Leave the keys in the SCS shop. Qualifications: * Criminal record with vulnerable sector check required, * Valid Class 4 driver?s license with a clean driver abstract, * Letter from previous employer regarding driving performance. Working conditions : Working for Northreach Society requires employees to be physically mobile. For the position of bus driver a class 4 licence and clean driver?s abstract is required as well as a recommendation from a previous employer.
