OFPT is currently on contract with EPCOR Distribution and Transmission Inc. to support the downtown distribution engineering department. Power distribution in dense urban environments includes complex networks of underground civil and electrical infrastructure. The majority of the work we do with EPCOR is in the downtown core of Edmonton. As a *Structural Design Engineer*, you will provide technical leadership and high-quality engineering deliverables from the conceptual engineering stage through to the closeout of the project. You will work as part of a project team that works on downtown network, substations, distribution and transmission projects.
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Civil/Structural Engineer to join our dynamic team to fill one full-time position.
*Duties*
* Design and construction supervision of underground network, distribution structures, substation buildings and structures.
* Design of concrete and steel structures such as structural slabs, walls, beams, pile foundations and steel superstructures.
* Preparing civil engineering design packages including the following; concrete encased ductbank, underground vaults and manhole installations, vault roof rebuilds, substation buildings.
* Performing engineering calculations, such as: reinforced concrete design, structural steel design loading, cable pulling calculations, wire sag, tension and swing, wire clearances, pole selection,
* Work with internal and external stakeholders to determine the complete project scope and schedule. Liaise with multiple engineering disciplines and the construction team to clearly define complexities, risks and mitigation strategies
* Conduct site reviews to ensure alignment with EPCOR standards, guidelines, and requirements
* Assess structural condition of existing structures and provide recommendations on required repairs.
* Providing detailed estimates on work orders and provide variance explanations if required.
* Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring deadlines are met through effective time management.
* Provide exceptional customer service by addressing client inquiries and resolving issues promptly.
* Create, monitor and control the schedule for all Engineering activities throughout the project lifecycle
* Manage the QA/QC and performance management of drawings and construction packages and ensure high quality construction packages are issued for construction
* Provide technical support to construction including site inspections, review of shop drawings and requests for information, and develop engineering solutions for unexpected site conditions
* Liaising with customers, contractors and project managers to deliver designs on time and within budget. Coordination with Issue for Construction deadlines.
* Ensuring all designs are in compliance with Electrical Utility Regulations, the Canadian Electrical Code, and EPCOR Distribution Construction Standards
* Reviewing Land Titles and Right of Way documents for preparation of easements. Preparing railway, pipeline and right-of way crossing drawings as required.
* Regularly reviewing design and drafting standards and templates and proposing relevant changes.
* Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends and technologies to improve project outcomes.
* Assist in the preparation of project documentation, including reports and presentations.
*Experience*
* Bachelor?s Degree in Civil Engineering
* P.Eng. status with The Association of Professionals in Engineering and Geoscience in Alberta (APEGA)
