*Job Summary*
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Pharmacy Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the pharmacy operations by assisting pharmacists in providing high-quality patient care. This position requires a strong understanding of medical terminology and medication administration, as well as the ability to work effectively in a pharmacy setting.
*Responsibilities*
* Assist pharmacists in preparing and dispensing medications accurately and efficiently.
* Provide exceptional patient care by answering questions and addressing concerns regarding medications and health products.
* Maintain accurate records of medication inventory, ensuring proper storage and labeling of pharmaceuticals.
* Process prescription orders, including verifying patient information and medication details.
* Educate patients on proper medication usage, potential side effects, and storage requirements.
* Support the pharmacy team with administrative tasks, including filing, data entry, and inventory management.
* Organize and maintain pharmacy supplies, ensuring that all areas are clean and well-stocked.
* Receiving and processing prescription orders from patients and healthcare providers.
* Entering patient information and prescription details into the pharmacy's computer system.
* Assisting with the preparation of medications, including counting pills, measuring liquids, and labeling containers.
* Ensuring prescriptions are accurately filled and ready for patient pickup.
* Checking expiration dates and disposing of expired stock.
* Greeting patients and customers, answering phone calls, and providing basic information.
* Answering phones, managing customer inquiries, and handling administrative tasks.
* Operating the cash register and processing payments.
* Maintaining patient records and other electronic files.
* Understanding and following pharmacy regulations related to medication handling, dispensing and patient confidentiality.
* May assist with compounding medications not commercially available.
* Support daily pharmacy operations, including cleaning and organizing the pharmacy.
*Requirements*
* Previous experience at least 2 years as a Pharmacy Assistant is mandatory.
* Must be bilingual (French and English)
* Strong knowledge of pharmacy operations and medication administration practices.
* Excellent communication skills with a focus on patient care and customer service.
* Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
* Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends if required.
