*Qualifications:*

* Community college diploma in a related field or culinary school an asset.
* 3-5 years or more of experience with commercial/institutional cooking.
* Current safe food handling certificate.
* Basic computer skills.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Organizational skills and the ability to prioritize multiple, diverse tasks.
* Proficiency in both official languages an asset.
*Hours of Work: *
Shifts are typically worked between 10 am and 6 pm, 365 days per year. Specific shifts will be assigned by the supervisor and will include days, evenings, weekends and statutory holidays.
*Agency Responsibilities:*
* This position will have access to a minimal amount of confidential information about employees plus some personal information about clients. Ensures at all times, the confidentiality of this information.
* Conducts all matters in a professional manner, demonstrating ordinary courtesy and respect, particularly during regular contact with clients and persons external to the organization.
* Conducts all matters in a punctual and responsible manner.
* Works co-operatively with all staff, exhibiting courtesy and respect.
* Exhibits trustworthy behaviour in matters related to agency resources and property.
* Maintains accurate and up-to-date records as required by the agency.
* Participates in staff meetings, training opportunities and agency committees.
* Other duties as assigned by the Director Seniors Services or Coordinator of Care.
*Specific Responsibilities:*
* Work cooperatively with external representatives such as suppliers of food, kitchen equipment and public health.
* Post the daily meal menu.
* Follow the recipe/instruction book to coincide with the menu plans.
* Rotate menu plans according to the seasons and client preferences.
* Prepare and serve appetizing meals, on time, according to the program schedule.
* Prepare sufficient quantities to allow for a few unexpected guests, accidents (plates dropped) and some to freeze for take home meals.
* Keep the servery full (muffins, cereals, bread, yogurt, cookies, fresh fruit, milk, juice, coffee, tea, etc).
* Listen to client concerns and suggestions regarding the meals/snacks and adjust accordingly.
* Ensure food waste and spoilage is kept to a minimum.
* Store food to ensure nutritional value is maximized.
* Keep a record of menus and the number of meals served at each sitting.
* Record the names of each client attending a meal and ensure it is entered in the client database.
* Keep the kitchen and all related equipment clean and in good working order.
* Report any damage or non-working equipment to the Director or Coordinator.
* Responsible for all clean-up after meals including the recycling area and putting out the garbage.
* Complete all kitchen cleaning checklists ? daily, weekly and monthly.
* Set kitchen laundry out for night housekeepers to do.
* Assist with orientation and training of new staff.
* Other duties as assigned by the Director or Coordinator.

Pay: $17.20-$17.87 per hour
