*JOB SUMMARY*
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Director of Finance is responsible for the financial health of the organization and works closely with the COO to ensure that the organization?s financial needs are met. The Finance Director provides leadership for the Finance team and helps drive best financial practices within the organization.
*KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES*
* Produce projected cashflows
* Monitor cashflows, investments, and interest rates
* Manage blended payments
* Prepare payroll and monthly remittances (including pension and benefits)
* Perform monthly bank reconciliations
* Approve expenses and authorize payments
* Assist with the development and monitoring of budgets
* Prepare annual T4 and T4 Summaries
* Develop and maintain databases of individual programs
* Develop financial reports / statements to executives and BoD
* Perform financial analysis and analytics
* Coordinate audits and produce audit letters
* Supervise employees (Provide direction, monitoring activities, real-time feedback)
* Perform compliance reviews
* Identify and manage risks
* Identify and recommend improvements/best practice
* Perform other duties as assigned
*EDUCATION / CERTIFICATIONS:*
* Post-Secondary education in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Commerce, a related field, or equivalent background \*required\*
* Accounting designation (Certification As a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) \*preferred\*
*EXPERIENCE:*
* Three (3) years of experience in a finance management or similar position supporting a small or medium size organization \*required\*
* Experience in not-for-profit financial management \*preferred\*
* Experience with funding (government programs) \*preferred\*
* Experience managing a team \*preferred\*
*KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND TRAITS:*
* Sound working knowledge of accounting and finance procedures and policies
* Financial accuracy and fiscal responsibility
* Team leadership (onboarding, coaching, mentoring, direction, feedback, support)
* Working knowledge of regulations, policies, and generally accepted accounting/auditing principles
* Ability to present financial, strategic, and comprehensive information
* Proficiency in using computer systems, database systems, internet-based applications, spreadsheets, and word-processing packages is essential (ideally Microsoft Office 365 and Sage accounting software)
* Exceptional time management and organizational skills
* Attention to detail to provide accurate, consistent, and timely financial information
* Ability to work with multiple stakeholders in an effective and professional manner
* Proficiency in both official languages (bilingual) \*preferred\*

*WORKING CONDITIONS*
Office environment, virtual meetings from the office and occasional in person offsite meetings.
The regular work week is 35 hours, although flexibility in work hours including occasional nights and weekends may be required.
