We are currently seeking an experienced Estimator (Sheet Metal/HVAC/ Piping). The successful candidate will provide knowledge and input into the following areas:
* Provide full mechanical estimates including all piping, sheet metal and refrigeration/HVAC take offs.
* Interpreting and analyzing, mechanical drawings and specifications.
* Coordinating efforts with suppliers and sub trades in order to compile full competitive estimates within strict deadlines.
Extensive industry knowledge and relationships are needed in order to perform well within this role. This career opportunity is a full time permanent position based near the Toronto airport.
*Key Responsibilities:*
* Responsible for the overall financial performance of projects awarded.
* Develop estimating techniques and make regular adjustments to ensure competitiveness.
* Analyzes documents, specifications, proposals, addendum's in preparation for pricing
* Performs all estimate related oral and/or written communications with clients.
* Reviewing project site prior to tender closing when required.
* Performs quantity take-off from construction drawings where applicable
* Obtains pricing from suppliers and incorporates into estimate
* Formulate all costs for tender submission ? labor, equipment, material, rentals and subcontracts
* Accountable for accuracy and completeness of tender submissions
* Oversees the distribution of appropriate documentation appropriately upon award of project
* Provide debrief upon award to project managers and field staff
* Assists with RFP?s and General Contract tender submissions
* Assists with Pre-qualification submissions, RFQ?s and RFI?s as required
* Drives positive relationships and serves as key contact with Clients, Consultants and key subcontractors
* Maintains Estimating data systems to ensure they are kept up to date
*Required Knowledge and Experience*
* Minimum 5 years as an Estimator in similar roles within the Ontario market.
* Prior Operational experience an asset
* Prior mechanical/piping/sheet metal estimating is a requirement
* Ability to read and understand construction drawings and contract documents
* Thorough knowledge of contract language and the ability to interpret.
* Good knowledge of job cost fundamentals and basic accounting / reporting principles an asset.
* Self motivated leader with excellent organizational skills, and management abilities.
* Strong computer skills ? MS Excel / Word / Project
* Strong communication skills ? oral and written
* Ability to work accurately, effectively under pressure
* Adaptable to flexible work schedule when required to meet deadlines
* Ability to work with others as a team
* Valid driver?s license, vehicle and ability to travel as required
*Preference will be given to candidates who have the following experience*
* Previous management experience within an estimating department
* Proficiency with the creation and submission of prequalification documents
* An extensive track record as it relates to successful tender awards and prequalification awards
* Some time spent in the field as a tradesman and/or supervisor
