*The Opportunity*
The Case Navigator is responsible for case management at Toba Centre and for facilitating linkage with appropriate internal and external partners. The incumbent provides information, support, crisis intervention, advocacy, and referral services for child victims of abuse and non-offending family members who are referred to Toba Centre.
The Case Navigator engages in tasks and activities that support and facilitate a multidisciplinary team approach to child abuse investigations. They are a member of a collaborative team of professionals that works to reduce trauma and promote healing for child/youth victims and non-offending family members.
*The Qualifications*
This position requires a post-secondary degree in a human service-related discipline such as social work, psychology, human ecology, or related field from an accredited academic institution and 3 to 5 years of experience working with children and families in a social services or related field would be an asset. Related experience or commensurate education of a comparable or equivalent level will also be considered.
* Knowledge of child development, trauma, and the effects of abuse on children and family members.
* Understanding of the dynamics of abuse and psycho-social needs of child victims of abuse.
* Demonstrated skills in crisis intervention and conflict resolution.
* Knowledge of, and sensitivity to. family systems, attachment theory and child victimization.
* Awareness of child protection and law enforcement child abuse investigative procedures and experience in child welfare or criminal justice systems.
* Strong knowledge of related government programs and community resources and services.
* Knowledge of relevant legislation (_Child and Family Services Act, Criminal Code, Personal Health Information Act, Freedom of Information and Privacy Act, The Protecting Children (Information Sharing Act))._
* Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
* Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks, effectively prioritize, and ensure follow through.
* Fluency in French and English would be considered an asset.
