HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning) mechanic

Job details
Education: Other trades certificate or diploma. Work site environment: Hot. Cold/refrigerated. Outdoors. Work setting: On-site customer service. Tasks: Install and overhaul heating systems. Install ventilation, air handling and air conditioning systems. Measure and lay out reference points for installation. Read blueprints or other instructions to determine work requirements. Troubleshoot heating systems. Troubleshoot ventilation, air handling, refrigeration and air conditioning systems. Assemble and install refrigeration or air conditioning components. Measure, cut and connect piping using welding and brazing equipment. Provide customer service. Start up system and test for leaks using testing devices. Perform maintenance such as, recharging system with refrigerant, checking and testing regulators or calibrating system. Interpret gas codes. Handle, recover and store refrigerants. Repair and replace parts and components for entire refrigeration, air conditioning, ventilation or heat pump systems. Clean ducts, vents and filters of furnaces. Service gas heating units and their components. Install gas heating units and their components. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic Trade Certification. Type of service and repair: Heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system. Air conditioning and refrigeration systems: Rooftop (self-contained). Heat pump. Air motioning and circulation. Humidification and de-humidification system. Ventilation. Equipment and machinery experience: Heat exchangers. Gas lines. Cleaning experience: Furnaces. Ventilation system/ducts. Area of specialization: Heating. Heating and air conditioning. Fireplaces and chimneys. Ducts. Security and safety: Driver's validity licence check.
