Education: Registered Apprenticeship certificate. or equivalent experience. Work setting: Manufacture. Tasks: Interpret welding process specifications. Operate manual or semi-automatic, fully automated welding equipment. Read and interpret welding blueprints, drawings specifications, manuals and processes. Operate oxygen arc cutting equipment (arc-air), (AOC). Determine weldability of materials. Operate hoisting and lifting equipment. Operate previously set-up welding machines to fabricate or repair metal parts and products. Maintain and perform minor repairs on welding, brazing and soldering equipment. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Occupational Health and Safety Certificate. First Aid Certificate. Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate. Type of materials: Aluminum alloys. Stainless steel. Steel, iron and heavy metals. Welding techniques: Shielded metal arc welding (SMAW). Gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW) (TIG). Flux core arc welding (FCAW). Plasma arc welding (PAW). Equipment and machinery experience: Arc welding machine. Area of specialization: Custom fabrication. Transportation/travel information: Own transportation. Driver's abstract. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Fast-paced environment. Repetitive tasks. Handling heavy loads.
