Education: Other trades certificate or diploma. Tasks: Compute dimensions and tolerances of machine parts. Repair machine tools and parts. Set up and adjust production machineries/tools. Maintain, repair and calibrate precision measuring instruments. Maintain inspection records and complete inspection reports. Verify dimensions of parts machined using precise measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers). Set up and operate conventional and computer controlled machine tools. Verify dimensions of products for accuracy and conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments. Program CNC machine tools. Set up machine tools such as lathes, milling machines and grinders. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Machinist Trade Certification. Tool and Die Maker Trade Certification. Machinist Red Seal Endorsment. Tool and Die Maker Red Seal Certificate. Measuring tools: Micrometers. Callipers. Calibre. Gauges. Verniers. Computer and technology knowledge: Mastercam CAD/CAM. Type of operation: Grinding. Equipment and machinery experience: Automatic lathes. Boring machines. Drill presses. Milling machines. Sawing machine. Surface grinders. Tool grinders.
