Regional District of Mount WaddingtonOperations Project Manager$75,000 - $100,000 per annum (commensurate with experience)Full-Time Management Exempt | Minimum 35 hours per weekPort McNeill, BC, CanadaPOSITION OVERVIEWThe Regional District of Mount Waddington (RDMW) is looking for an initiative-taking and skilled Operations Project Manager to support the Operations Department in delivering critical infrastructure and community services. This role directly contributes to the planning, execution, and oversight of water treatment/distribution, wastewater, solid waste, fire protection, and transportation infrastructure projects across the region. Reporting to and collaborating with the Manager of Operations (the ?Manager?), this management-exempt position is a high-impact, field-and-office hybrid role for a candidate who can lead projects, supervise personnel, manage contractors, and contribute meaningfully to long-term infrastructure strategies in remote and rural environments.DUTIES Perform work related to water, wastewater, solid waste, transportation, and fire protection services, including project management, asset management, and budgeting. Supervise operational staff and junior team members, supporting the Operations Manager with staff administration, recruitment, and health and safety. Direct consulting work, overseeing contractors, and conducting site reviews. Develop, implement, and manage contracts through competitive processes, ensuring transparency and fair- trade practices. Ensure due diligence in work activities; identify and mitigate risks or liabilities and escalate concerns to senior leadership. Recommend, advise, and develop operational guidelines, policies, and safe work practices to ensure compliance and mitigate occupational hazards. Advise and supervise operations staff and contractors on regulatory compliance in utility, solid waste, transportation, and fire protection services. Develop budgets, obtain necessary approvals, monitor expenditures within purchasing authority, and escalate concerns while recommending cost control strategies. Conduct operational reviews, identify opportunities for improvement, and develop business cases. Respond to public, staff, and external stakeholder inquiries and complaints; review and approve utility plans and applications. Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate professionalism in all responsibilities. Represent RDMW on committees and partner initiatives as directed; develop reports and keep stakeholders and leadership informed. Prioritize operational duties, capital projects, and emerging issues, track and document progress. Perform other duties as assigned.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS University degree in engineering, environmental sciences, public administration, project management, or related field. Minimum five (5) years of project/program management capacity, in a local government environment, with knowledge, use and experience in matters pertaining to, water, wastewater, solid waste, transportation, and fire protection is an asset.
