We are seeking a *versatile and skilled Fabricator* to join our in-house team. This position combines *custom metal fabrication* for stairs, railings, and structural supports with *HVAC component fabrication*, including CNC plasma cutting. The ideal candidate is highly self-sufficient, detail-oriented, and experienced in both architectural metalwork and mechanical sheet metal systems.
*Key Responsibilities*
*Custom Metal Fabrication:*
* Fabricate stairs, handrails, guards, brackets, and platforms from steel, stainless steel, and aluminum.
* Interpret architectural drawings, sketches, and specifications to build custom metal assemblies.
* Perform MIG welding (and optionally TIG/Stick) to a high-quality finish.
* Operate bandsaws, grinders, drills, and fabrication machinery to complete structural or ornamental metalwork.
* Ensure that finished products meet both functional and aesthetic standards.
*HVAC Fabrication (Including CNC Plasma Table):*
* Fabricate sheet metal ductwork, equipment stands, supports, and custom fittings.
* Program and operate the *CNC plasma cutting table* to cut HVAC components and support plates with accuracy and efficiency.
* Read mechanical shop drawings and cut sheets to create precise layouts.
* Operate sheet metal forming equipment (brake, shear, Pittsburgh machine, etc.) for consistent, high-tolerance outputs.
* Coordinate with HVAC install teams to ensure correct sizing and fit for site assemblies.
*Shop Coordination & Workflow:*
* Manage multiple fabrication requests from internal stakeholders and project managers.
* Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop environment.
* Track inventory of standard materials and shop consumables; flag restocking needs.
* Proactively coordinate priority items to meet critical project milestones or tight timelines.
* Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including machine lock-out/tag-out protocols and PPE use.
*Qualifications:*
* 3+ years of experience in fabrication, welding, or related trades.
* Proficiency with *MIG welding* is required; TIG and Stick welding are strong assets.
* Hands-on experience with *CNC plasma cutting systems* (manual programming or CAD/CAM software).
* Competency in reading architectural and mechanical drawings and shop sketches.
* Experience with both structural steel and light-gauge sheet metal work.
* Familiarity with overhead crane or forklift operation is an asset.
* Strong attention to detail, time management, and quality control.
*Working Conditions:*
* Full-time, in-shop position (Monday?Friday); occasional site visits or off-hours work as needed.
* Standing, lifting, and working with power tools throughout the day; must be able to lift 50+ lbs regularly.
