Job details
Education: Other trades certificate or diploma. or equivalent experience. Work setting: Relocation costs not covered by employer. Tasks: Professionalism in customer service. Load and unload goods. Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials. Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment. Pay and receive payments for goods. Perform brake adjustments. Perform emergency roadside repairs. Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of vehicle. Perform preventive maintenance. Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption. Tarping and ensuring safety and security of cargo. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Air Brakes Endorsement. Class 1/1F/A Licence (semi trailer trucks). Class 5/5F/G Licence (cars, small trucks and other 2-axle vehicles). Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) clearance Certificate. Defensive Driving Course. Forklift Operator Certification. Documentation knowledge: Accident or incident reports. Driver logbook. Inspection report (pre-trip, en-route, post-trip). Type of trucking and equipment: Tractor-trailer. Equipment and machinery experience: Forklift. Transportation/travel experience: Regional. Short-haul. Security and safety: Criminal record check. Driver's validity licence check. Driving record check (abstract). Work conditions and physical capabilities: Attention to detail. Handling heavy loads. Physically demanding. Repetitive tasks. Weight handling: Up to 23 kg (50 lbs). Own tools/equipment: Cellular phone. Steel-toed safety boots. Safety vest.
