<h3>Job Description</h3><div>Job Description<div><p> </p><p>Automobile Repair Technician Job Description and Primary Job Functions</p><p> </p><p>SUMMARY: Repairs, services and overhauls automobiles, trucks, motorhomes, trailers and other automotive vehicles by performing the following duties:</p><p> </p><p>ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:</p><p>• Follow all rules and regulations as spoken or written in any form by the management, i.e. employee's handbook and any addendums issued or posted at any time.</p><p>• Always maintain a positive attitude and the team concept.</p><p>• Use the phone in a professional manner, always with the intention of creating a long-term relationship between the repair shop and the customer.</p><p>• To act in a professional manner suitable as to represent a quality organization with which you are employed, always and in every instance projecting an attitude of honesty and respectfulness.</p><p>• Always observe and adhere to all Bureau of Automotive Repair rules and regulations.</p><p>• Each employee must adhere to all OH&S safety rules and regulations as well as all city and county regulations regarding shop safety, fuel spill cleanup or other flammable or hazardous material.</p><p>• Assist in all housekeeping functions as directed by management.</p><p>• Diagnose and repair vehicles that failed the smog inspection.</p><p>• Examine vehicle. Discuss nature and extent of damage or malfunction with service writer. Provide recommendations for repair, including parts list needed to perform. Recommended repairs. Provide list of other items needing attention.</p><p>• Perform a preventive maintenance inspection on all vehicles.</p><p>• Ensure all under-car, under-hood, and preventive maintenance inspections and reports are complete and accurate.</p><p>• Raise vehicle, using shop lifting equipment, to gain access to mechanical units bolted to underside of vehicle, using proper equipment and safety procedures.</p><p>• Remove units, such as engines, transmissions, or differentials.</p><p>• Disassemble units and inspect parts for wear.</p><p>• Repair or replace parts, such as pistons, rods, gears, valves, and bearings.</p><p>• Overhaul or replace carburetors, blowers, generators, distributors, starters, and pumps.</p><p>• Diagnose electrical system problems and perform electrical repairs.</p><p>• Rewire/repair ignition system, lights, and instrument panel.</p><p>• Replace and/or adjust brakes, perform alignments, replace struts & shock absorbers.</p><p>• Machine drums and rotors as necessary.</p><p>• Diagnose and repair cooling system failures. Remove and replace cooling system parts, remove radiators for repair.</p><p>• Replace and adjust headlights. Install and repair accessories such as radios, heaters, mirrors, and windshield wipers.</p><p>• Ensure that all work is performed to proper specifications.</p><p>• Wear appropriate safety equipment as needed.</p><p>• Attend company-related work and safety meetings.</p><p>• Maintain a cost-conscious attitude toward all work and company spending.</p><p>• Assist other employees as directed by management.</p><p>• Immediately report any damage to equipment or facilities.
