Education: Other trades certificate or diploma. or equivalent experience. Work setting: Agricultural equipment. General manufacturing. Mining Industry. Oil and gas industry. Tasks: Compute dimensions and tolerances of machine parts. Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, charts and tables. Set up and adjust production machineries/tools. Document and report deviations from specifications and tolerances. Verify dimensions of parts machined using precise measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers). Set up and operate conventional and computer controlled machine tools. Verify dimensions of products for accuracy and conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Machinist Trade Certification. Measuring tools: Micrometers. Callipers. Calibre. Gauges. Verniers. Computer and technology knowledge: Mastercam CAD/CAM. Equipment and machinery experience: Automatic lathes. Drill presses. Engine lathes. Gear cutting machine. Milling machines. Use computer numerical control (CNC) machines. Computer-aided design (CAD). Gears. Security and safety: Basic security clearance. Transportation/travel information: Own transportation. Public transportation is available. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Ability to work independently. Fast-paced environment. Tight deadlines. Repetitive tasks. Standing for extended periods.
