We are seeking an *experienced *and dedicated Daycare Director to establish and lead a brand new, full-time Montessori early learning and child care program in Royal Oak, Northwest Calgary. The Director will be responsible for developing and managing all aspects of the program from the ground up, ensuring full compliance with Alberta?s Early Learning and Child Care Act and Regulations, and delivering a high-quality Montessori environment primarily for children aged 2.7 to 5 years, with limited space available for younger children.
This position requires strong leadership and initiative, with responsibilities spanning program development, staff recruitment and management, curriculum oversight, regulatory compliance, family engagement, and daily administration. The ideal candidate will be passionate about early childhood education and the Montessori philosophy, and committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment for children, families, and staff.
*Key Responsibilities:*
* Plan, develop, and oversee all aspects of the Montessori child care centre from inception through daily operations
* Ensure full compliance with Alberta licensing, health and safety standards, and program requirements
* Recruit, train, and supervise early childhood educators and support staff
* Implement ongoing staff development, evaluations, and performance improvement plans
* Develop and maintain Montessori-aligned curriculum and materials for children aged 2.7 to 5, with appropriate support for younger children as needed
* Manage enrolment, child records, staffing schedules, and family communication
* Ensure that staff-to-child ratios and other regulatory standards are consistently met
* Maintain accurate documentation for licensing, inspections, and government subsidies
* Serve as the primary liaison with Alberta Children?s Services and licensing officials
* Oversee budgeting, billing, and daily operations to ensure long-term sustainability
* Prepare applications for grants, funding opportunities, certifications, and accreditations
* Promote an inclusive, respectful, and collaborative culture for families and staff
*Qualifications:*
* Alberta Level 3 Early Childhood Educator Certification
* Diploma or recognized certification in Montessori education
* Minimum of three to five years of experience in early childhood education, *including* leadership or supervisory roles
* Working knowledge of Montessori and Reggio Emilia principles
* Familiarity with Alberta child care legislation and licensing regulations
* Valid First Aid and CPR certification
* Clear Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Search
* Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
* Ability to build positive relationships with families, staff, and community partners

This is a full-time position. Candidates must be available to work 40 hours per week in person at our Calgary location. Typical working hours are Monday to Friday, with occasional flexibility required for special events or operational needs.
