Education: Other trades certificate or diploma. Work site environment: Dangerous. At heights. Confined spaces. Noisy. Work setting: Various locations. Industrial. Tasks: Select, measure, cut, ream and thread pipe. Instruct apprentices. Connect piping systems to water mains, supply tanks, pumps, compressors and control equipment. Install clamps, brackets and hangers to support piping system and sprinkler and fire protection equipment, using hand and power tools. Supervise other workers. Cut openings for pipe in walls, floors and ceilings using hand or power tools or machines. Install supports, valves, piping and control systems. Test system for leaks using testing equipment. Read and interpret blueprints, maps, drawings and specifications. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : First Aid Certificate. Steamfitter and Pipefitter Trade Certification. Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate. Construction Safety Training Systems (CSTS) Certificate. Hydrogen Sulphide Awareness (H2S) Certificate. Transportation/travel information: Valid driver's licence. Own transportation. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Handling heavy loads. Physically demanding. Attention to detail. Standing for extended periods. Bending, crouching, kneeling. Own tools/equipment: Steel-toed safety boots. Hard hat. Personal suitability: Efficient interpersonal skills. Team player. Reliability.
