NL Health Services has 2 full time Emergency Room positions available at the Carbonear General Hospital. The hospital provides services to a catchment area of approximately 50,000 people. Community Carbonear General Hospital is situated in the town of Carbonear. Carbonear is a beautiful rural town about 100 kilometers outside of St. John?s. The Hospital services around 50,000 people in the Rural Avalon Region. There are many amenities in the area, such as hiking, a swimming pool, soccer pitch and biking/walking trails, restaurants, local theatre and shopping. For more information regarding Carbonear, Rural Avalon, please visit: www.carbonear.ca Job Summary These two positions are full time Emergency Medicine and are fee for service, and available immediately. The ER shifts are allocated in an equitable and predictable templated format. Emergency MD shifting is solo, with ER Nurse Practitioner support from 8am-4pm weekdays. Second Emergency MD shifting is also used as available during peak periods. Core generalist specialty support resources are in place, a dedicated ER portable ultrasound is based in the ER and 24 hour emergent CT scanning is available in the building. The position is for approximately 80 hours of service in a two-week period. This transpires to a minimum of 13 shifts per month depending on the worked day and nightshifts, respectively, 10 hour (8am to 6pm) and 14 hour (6pm to 8am) shifts. The hospital has 70 acute care beds with a 6 bed ICU. Specialty services include; Anesthesia, General Surgery, Orthopedics, Obstetrical/Gynecology, Internal Medicine, Psychiatry, Pediatrics, Family Medicine (Hospitalist) and 24-hour Emergency coverage. Further supportive services include, 24-hour diagnostic imaging and laboratory services, physiotherapy, respiratory therapy, Chemotherapy, Pharmacy, Dialysis, ICU/Cardiac and Palliative Care. There are visiting services for ophthalmology and urology. Required Qualifications:Medical Degree Current in ACLS, BLS, PALS and ATLS Deemed eligible for licensure to practice by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Newfoundland and Labrador. Relocation: NL Health Services is prepared to provide assistance to offset expenses related to relocation contingent on the execution of a return-in-service agreement. To be eligible for reimbursement, the incumbent must remain employed with NL Health Services for a period of 24 worked months.
