Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Cook to join our team and provide nourishing meals for residents in long-term care facilities. This role is perfect for individuals who have a passion for culinary arts and a desire to make a positive impact on the lives of others.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare and serve meals for residents under the direction of the Food Service Manager/Food Service Supervisor
* Follow standardized recipes and HACCP procedures to ensure food safety and quality
* Complete all assigned training as required by the Long-Term Care Homes Act (LTCHA) and Regulation 79/10
* Respect and support residents' multicultural diversity, beliefs, and values
* Maintain a professional demeanor at all times
* Demonstrate understanding and commitment to the facility's philosophy, objectives, and policies
* Adhere to Health and Safety legislation, internal policies, and procedures
* Work safely to reduce the risk of injury to self, co-workers, and residents
Qualifications
* Experience in food preparation, preferably in a healthcare or institutional setting
* Knowledge of food safety standards and HACCP principles
* Ability to follow standardized recipes and cooking procedures
* Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
* Flexibility to work various shifts as needed
* Physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift moderate weights
* Food handler's certificate mandatory
* Culinary diploma or certificate is a plus
